Evening Relaxtion Routine

Hello everyone!  Hope you are all having a wonderful day whatever you may be up to!  For today’s post I’m going to be writing about something I’ve wanted to write about for a very long time-My Evening Relaxtion Routine.  I am definetly one of those people who love to cozy up for the evening and give myself a good pamper.  I try to do a full self care relaxation routine at least once a week (although sometimes I find myself doing this everyday because I love it so much!).  This routine is what I’ve been doing a lot in the summer when I don’t have to get up as early and can spend more time in the evening to myself.  Also, I sometimes only do a few of these things or even just one of these in the evening, it is super simple to customize your routine just by picking what sounds the most relaxing to you.  Alright, without further ado-let’s get on to the post!

So, my evening routine usually begins after dinner.  The first thing I like to do is a short evening yoga routine.  I’ve only recently gotten into yoga, but I love it!  I use the YouTube channel Yoga with Adriene which I absolutely love and has a very wide range of videos that vary in difficulty level, amount of time, or type of yoga.  I definetly do not do yoga everynight, and sometimes do it earlier in the day instead but I had to include it in this post because it is essential to my relaxtion!

After that the next thing I do is get into the bath.  Even in the summer I love to take a nice relaxing warm bath.  For my bath lighting is huge to me.  I like to create low, soft lighting as I find this the most relaxing.  To do this I light a candle in my bathroom and turn off the lights.  I do not mind it being super dark, but if you do, you can always light several candles or use a small plug in light to add a bit more light.  After I’ve set the lighting for my bath I move onto the bath itself.  I almost always go for bubbles rather than a bath bomb (although I do love a good bath bomb) and typically use a bath and body works shower gel for bubble bath or the Zoella Beauty Drench Me product.

After I’m out of the bath I like to moisturize using again a bath and body works body cream or the Zoella Beauty Quench Me.  It is super important to moisturize your skin, especially if it is exposed to the sun, and should be done once a day (though I usually only remember like once a week lol).  After I’m all moisturized and ready to go I hop into a cozy pair of pajamas and maybe some fuzy socks if I’m cold.

Once I’m fully dressed I usually start to do my nails.  I typically do my nails once a week and find the evenings to be the perfect time to do them.  I turn on some YouTube, a movie, or TV and get going on my nails and toes (I don’t do my toes as often as the polish usually lasts longer).  While I’m doing this I throw on a face mask (I like to use sheet masks like these) and take this time to fully take care of my skin and nails.

Lastly I move on to the end of my evening.  By this point I might want to grab dessert whether it’s healthier like the banana ice cream from my Vegetarian Summer Recipes post, or indulging in my favortive flavor of ice cream or a piece of cake.  While I munch on my dessert I usually catch up on my favorite YouTubers, or if I’m already caught up I move on to Netflix to watch The Office or a movie.

After I’ve watched a good amount of YouTube and Netflix I get tucked up into bed and enjoy and good nights rest!

Workout Tag

Hello everyone!  Hope you are all having a lovely week!  For today’s post I would like to something a little different-The Workout Tag!  I’m not gonna lie I have no idea if this is a real thing (I’ve never seen it before but I’m sure I didn’t come up with it) but I thought it would make for an interesting post!  So for this post I’m going to be talking about the workouts I do, the workout clothes I love, and any other misc. things to do with working out!  To start I would also like to say I am not even close to a fitness guru and am going purely on the little experience I have and there are definetly weeks where I don’t find the time or motivation to work out.  But without further delay, lets get onto the tag!

My weekly workout routine:

So, to start I would like to outline kinda how my week looks in terms of exercise-

Monday-30 Minutes Weightlifting/Conditioning and 10 minutes morning yoga

Tuesday-Fun Swimming 1-2hrs and 20 minute Yoga Stretch routine

Wednesday-20 minutes boxing and 20 minutes Weightlifting/Conditioning

Thursday-45 minute leisurely walk outside

Friday-Rest

Saturday-30 minute yoga

Sunday-Rest

Keep in mind this is just a sample of what a week for me MIGHT look like.  I sometimes exercise less days than this or do easier workouts than listed above.  As you can see from the list the four things I do to work out are-Weightlifting/Conditioning, Boxing, Walking, and Yoga.  I have tried other things like running and even did gymnastics for six years but find that with my current schedule and lifestyle these four things work well for me.  It took me a long time to find these workouts that I actually want to do and I still struggle sometimes with staying motivated to do these things.  It’s important to find what works for you and what you love!  I know it sounds cliche but if you are dreading all your workouts you probably just haven’t found the workout that works best for you!  I did running for years to work out before I found these things and hated it.  Some people absolutely love to run which I seriously admire but it just wasn’t the workout for me and that’s okay!

So now that I’ve introduced each of my four workouts I would like to breifly touch on each of these to give you guys more of an idea of what they’re about:

Yoga-I am fairly new to yoga but love it!  I just use Yoga with Adriene as I’ve mentioned in previous posts and it is super simple.  As you can see I do yoga for different length of time depending on the day, but she has videos as short as 5 minutes and as long as 45!

Boxing-For boxing I am no pro but I find it super fun to do and great cardio instead of running.  If it box for 20 minutes I do 10 rounds each 1 minute 30 seconds with a 30 second break to cool off inbetween rounds.  The one thing that is super important when you box is to make sure your wrists are supported by using wraps and boxing gloves like these and these.

Walking-This is pretty straighforward, I just find a trail or a park close to my house and go!  I usually walk around 2 miles but if I feel like it I sometimes go for 3.

Weightlifting/Condition-For weightlifting and conditioning you can pick and choose what you want to work on.  I do full body workouts rather than focusing on legs one day and arms the next because I find it works well for me. I just do normal conditioning exercises such as squats, sit ups, jumping jacks, shoulder shrugs and many more with implementing weights whereever I can whether than be weighted sit ups or holding on to wieghts while doing shoulder shrugs.  I also like to do simple weightlifting moves such as hammer curls, chest press, or dead lift.  I usually use dumbells that range from 5-8 pounds each depending on what I’m doing.

Workout Clothes/Misc.-

My favorite workout clothes all come from one place-Old Navy!  I find their Go-Dry range to be perfect for working out and use their sports bras, cropped leggins and shorts!

Also when I work out it is super important to stay hydrated.  My favorite reusable water bottle that I use is this one.  It holds A TON of water and is much better for the environment than non reusable water bottles.

This may seem obvious but I like to listen to music while I work out, and have been loving to use Spotify which has specific workout playlists or you can do what I do and just put all my favorties on shuffle!

The Office-

I know I am very late on this one, but better late than never!  This show is just so funny and amazing and I especially love it because there are so many seasons!  With seemingly endless episodes I binge watch all I want!

 

Zoella Beauty Splash Botanics-

I’ve been a fan of Zoella’s YouTube channel for a few years and absolutely love her videos!  I didn’t have nearly any of her products so when the new Splash Botanics range came out I had to get it and it was definitely worth it!  This range honestly smells SOO GOOD and the products are so nice for your skin.  My favorites from the range would have to be Quench Me which is a great moisturizer and Drench Me which honestly creates the best bubbles.

 

Hammock-

Okay so this is a little different but during the summer months this is a necesity for me!  We have a hammock in our back yard under a bunch of trees and honestly when I sit under there it feels like 20 degrees cooler which is so nice for those 90 degree days!

 

Hogwarts A Mystery Game-

So for those who do not know what this is, it is a Harry Potter app that lets you play as your own character to complete a story of your time at Hogwarts.  This game is super fun because you can see parts of Hogwarts that were in the books and movies and even see some new parts that weren’t!  It does follow its own story line which is super fun because its a whole new story in the Wizarding World and you get to be a part of it!

Going to the Warner Bros Studio Tour London!

Hello everyone!  Hope you are all having a lovely day, whatever you are doing!  I took last week off posting because I was on my family vacation which is what this weeks post is about!  This year we decided to go to London and Paris (you can read more about our trip over on my sister’s blog GracetheBlogger if you would like) and while we were in London we just had to go to the Studio Tour!  It is a must do for any fans of Harry Potter and was 100% worth it.  So for this weeks post I’m going to be chatting you through what we did at the tour and what I thought about it!  Keep in mind if you are planning a trip to the tour and want to be surprised on what’s there there are SPOILERS AHEAD!!  Also since Grace and I went together we thought it would be fun to do a bit of a collaboration for our posts so make sure to go over and check out her post.  Shes talking you through everything we bought there (there’s some really cool stuff!!), and also make sure to check out her other posts, they’re amazing!  Okay without further ado-let’s talk about the tour!

Booking The Tour-

So, to start I wanted to talk about actually booking the tour.  We booked the tour through viator.com  and found it really nice!  If you are staying in London and don’t have a car this is great because they provide transportation from London Victoria Coach Station to the tour itself (around an hour and half journey).  They also go full out with the Harry Potter magic as the bus itself has magical decorations on the outside and they play the Harry Potter movies in the inside on the way there and back!  I would definitely recommend if you need to get from central London to the tour!

Going into the tour-

Once we got to the tour location we were allowed to go right in, go through security and then start exploring!  Before you even get into the technical tour part there is already so much to see!  Walking through you can see costumes from Fantastic Beasts, and then a long hallway that is designed like the marauders map and is full of Harry Potter quotes.  I loved this especially because it is a perfect backdrop if you want to take some photos before the tour!  After that you enter an area where you can grab some food, go to the gift shop, or go into the tour.

The tour itself-

Once you enter the tour you are guided into a room with a bunch of screens and watch a short video about the tour and Harry Potter.  Once you are finished with that you are guided into another room (these are the only parts that are guided, the rest of the tour you can roam on your own!)  that is set up like a movie theater and watch another short video about the tour, at the end of the video the screen opens up and you see the doors of the Great Hall, which are the entrance to the tour.  You start off in the Great Hall.  After that you can walk into a large room where they have A TON of props and set pieces.  There is SO MUCH in here that you could spend four hours in here alone, but I wouldn’t get too caught up in this room-there’s still a lot of the tour to go!

After that you will see rooms that are set up like The Forbidden Forest and Kings Cross Station with the real Hogwarts Express!  Once you exit that area there is another area where you can get food and Butterbeer!  We got Butterbeer ice cream which was sooo good-I would definitely recommend!!  You can eat inside or you can do what we did and eat outside while looking at the amazing outdoor sets including Privet Drive, The Night Bus, The Hogwarts Bridge and more!

Once you finish any Butterbeer or snacks you’ve had you can go back inside to the rest of the tour.  The tour from this point on had a lot of behind the scenes design items from Harry Potter including scale models, magical creatures, and more costumes!  It also has diagon alley set pieces set up as they were in the movies!  The last thing you come upon in the tour is a HUGE scale model of Hogwarts castle itself!! This model was the same model used to shoot all the exterior scenes of the castle and is amazing.  You are able to walk all around the castle and see it from all angles and perspectives and get as many pictures as you like!!  I would definitely recommend not just breezing through this room, but taking a little more time in here because its worth it!

What I thought of the tour-

If you couldn’t tell already I thought the tour was amazing!  If you are taking a trip to London and are a Harry Potter fan I would definitely recommend going.  We left for the tour at 8:00 AM from London Victoria coach station, arriving at the tour at 9:30 AM and had just under four hours at the actual tour leaving at 1:15 PM.  I though this was the perfect amount of time in the tour to take our time, take plenty of pictures, and of course shop around in the gift shop!!  I would say that spending less than four hours there you may not see everything you want to see or you may just have to go a little faster through some pasts, so if you have the time you should plan to be there around four hours.

I would also 100% go back.  Although I’m sure the second or third time you go there aren’t as many surprises but even seeing the same things again would be worth it!  Also, the tour often has different themes different times of years so you may see different thing different times you go.  For example, when we were there it was Goblet of Fire themed so we saw some exclusive Goblet of Fire set pieces.  Also, if I was to compare it to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studio I would have to say they are pretty much equal-which is really saying something because I LOVE Universal Studios.  My favorites from the tour would have to be The Forbidden Forest, The Hogwarts Express, or the model of Hogwarts Castle but everything was really cool!

World Cup Fever

Hello everyone!  Hope you are all doing well!  Something you may not know about me from my previous posts is that I absolutely love Soccer (or Football)!  So for this weeks post I am just going to be chatting with you guys about Soccer and this years world cup! Hope you enjoy!

I fell in love with the sport a few years ago when I started to go to my local team’s games.  The atmosphere was absolutely unreal and the game was captivating.  Before going to these games I had zero interest in sports, but seeing them it opened up a whole new world for me which I absolutely love!  My dad has always loved Soccer and played it growing up which also influenced me into loving soccer!

Also since my love for soccer is new-ish that means that this year is the first world cup I’m watching as a true soccer fan!  Of course it had to be the year the United States did not qualify, but that is definitely not stopping me from enjoying the game!  Although I don’t have a solid team that I’m rooting for, it is still compelling to watch the games and see the worlds best players do magnificent things in the game.  I also love the conversations that open up with the world cup.  So many people watch it and it opens up a community of people who are passionate about soccer whether you talk about it with your family or with someone from a different country, it is truly amazing what the world cup can do!

Vegetarian Summer Recipes

Hello everyone! Today marks the official first day of summer, which I am so happy about!  Although Autumn and Winter are my favorite times of year, every year when summer comes along, I can’t help but wonder if maybe summer actually is my favorite!  One thing I love to do in the summer is eat healthier and work out (except of course for ice cream lol).  With fruits and vegetables at their prime during the summer months its the perfect time to take advantage of them!  Also as many of you probably do not know, I am a vegetarian, so all of these recipes will be vegetarian friendly!  Without further ado-let’s get on to the post!

Breakfast-

During the summer is when I truly get the time to sit down and enjoy breakfast, compared to the busy school mornings where I am scrambling around and barely get a bowl of cereal.  I especially love to make smoothies during the summer, and smoothie bowls are great if you want a bit more substance than just a drink!

Peanut Butter Chocolate Smoothie Bowl-

-half scoop of chocolate protein powder

-half cup crushed ice

-splash of milk

-one banana

-1 tablespoon of natural peanut butter

-quarter cup of vanilla Greek yogurt

Blend ingredients together and that’s it!  Add more milk if you need a thinner consistency, and add more ice if you want it to be thicker.  I also always top of my smoothie bowls with a crushed up Aussie Bites (you can buy these at costco or amazon) or you could add any nuts, seeds, or fruit of your choice!

With my smoothie bowl I like to eat a piece of Morning Star Sausage (completely vegetarian) which is delicious and great protein for vegetarians!  Also some vegetarians like these as well and are a great option for anyone!  You can also substitute with real sausage if you prefer.  This combination is super delicious and filling, and packed full of protein! Depending on the exact ingredients you use it may vary but for me this breakfast packs in about 30 grams of protein!

Lunch-

Although I tend to wake up late and eat breakfast around lunch time, I still try to get a lunch in a little later in the day.  One of my favorite lunches to make are wraps!  This one especially is a favorite of mine!

Vegetarian Spicy “Chicken” Wrap

-One tortilla

-shredded romaine lettuce

-salsa (I usually use a pico de gallo salsa but any type works)

-hot sauce

-sour cream

-Morning Star Buffalo wings

All you need to do is microwave the morning star “wings” and then throw everything into the tortilla!  You can not add any hot sauce if you prefer less spicy things, or you can add as much as you want depending on what spice level you prefer.  This is a great option for a quick and easy lunch and the Morning Star Buffalo wings are absolutely delicious!  I am one who does not like black bean burger, so when I heard about more meat replacers I was skeptical if they were actually any good, but they were so good!  They add some much needed substance to vegetarian recipes lacking chicken and have a great taste!  If you are not a vegetarian you can easily substitute these for grilled chicken!

Dinner-

A;though many say breakfast is the most important meal of the day, for me dinner has to be the most important.  It is by far my biggest meal and usually my favorite!  One dinner option I love to have is burrito bowls!  These are super easy and you can basically add whatever you like!  Here are some things my family and I like to add in ours

Burrito Bowls

-white or brown rice

-salsa

-sour cream

-corn

-black beans

-guac (we use chipotles recipe which is soo good!)

-grilled bell peppers and onion

All you need to do is mix in whatever you like and there you go!  Great dinner option for anyone because everyone can customize their own!

Snacks/Deserts-

In summer when I am at home a lot more I tend to also snack a lot more.  So, here are my favorite snacks/deserts I reach for during the summer (this does not include things like ice cream or chips which I do snack on here and there, but for this post I’m only including healthier things)!

-Naan and Hummus

-Aussie Bites

-Banana “Ice Cream”

*For this one all you need to do is blend frozen banana and milk until it reaches the texture of ice cream, you can mix in chocolate chips, nuts, peanut butter, or anything else you think of!

Baking Tips and Tricks I’ve Learned

Hello everyone!  Hope you are having a great day!  For this weeks post I’m going to be talking about one of my passions-baking!  Although I have much to learn about baking, I have been baking for a few years now and have learned some useful tips that have helped me.  So, I thought I would share those tips with all of you!  Hope you enjoy!

The Piping-Bag Cup trick:

This one is great for anyone who loves to decorate and use icing tips!  When filling piping bags sometimes things can get messy, which is not a great way to start when piping itself can already be tricky enough! To avoid a messy piping bag simply fit the bag inside a cup fitting the top of the bag around the rim of the cup and fill your bag!  Super simple but really helpful!

 

Parchment Paper:

I cannot stress enough how important parchment paper is when I bake!  When I began baking I had so many issues getting my cakes out of the pans and watching them crumble apart as I tried.  I finally discovered using parchment for cakes and it has been so nice!  All you need to do is cut strips to fit in your size cake pan (you do not need to cover the full surface area).  Also spray the pans with non-stick spray first and it will act as a glue for the parchment to stick on while also safeguarding against the cake sticking itself!  I also use flat sheets of parchment paper on pans when I make cookies, bread, pastries, and basically everything!  This helps so much with the cleanup and makes the process run so much more smoothly!

 

Crumb Coat:

This is another tip for decorating cakes!  Always make sure your cakes are completely cooled (although I usually have trouble waiting) before you put any icing on-this is essential to a clean looking cake.  Once the cakes are cooled ice one coat around the whole cake and put it in the freezer.  This is called a crumb coat, and is completely okay if you still see little bits of the cake or crumbs peeking out of the icing.  Once the coat is completely set in the freezer it will make the final icing coats so much easier to make look clean and professional!

 

Vegan Cakes:

I am one of those people who has no shame in using store bought cake mixes and icings every once in a while.  To make a super easy vegan cake all you need to do is pick out a cake mix (surprisingly most store bought cake mixes are vegan!) and mix in 8-12 oz of pop/soda to the mix.  For chocolate cakes I have found that darker colored pops/sodas such as Coke or Pepsi work best and for vanilla based cakes lighter pops/sodas such as Sprite works best.  You can also use this for other cakes such as spice cakes, lemon cakes, or basically any type of cake you want!  The general rule to find out what pop you need is typically if the cake is lighter in color you will want the pop to be and same for darker cakes.  Basically any pop can work as long as it is not diet pop, so have fun and experiment!  You don’t taste the pop once the cake is baked, so you don’t need to be super exact.  Also if you want an easy vegan icing most store bought icings are actually vegan (make sure to always check the ingredients, though), and for an extra touch oreos are also vegan!   One thing about these vegan cakes is that they tend to be a little more sticky than normal cakes and may not rise as much so you may need to do more layers!

 

Ziplock bags instead of Piping-Bags:

This one is super simple.  If you find yourself baking but realise you’re all out of piping bags Ziplock bags work really well!  Although obviously piping bags are ideal, you can cut the corner of a Ziplock bag and use it just like a piping bag!  It even works when using tips!

 

Melting chocolate:

If you like to work with chocolate but want an easy way to melt it, you can melt it in the microwave instead of a double boiler.  Although you can’t temper the chocolate this way it saves a ton of time if you are just doing it for fun.  When melting chocolate in the microwave it is best to put it on half power (most microwaves go to power level 10, so you would want to put it on power level 5) to insure the chocolate doesn’t burn.  Melt on half power stopping every minute or two to stir.

 

Turn Table:

Although these are not essential when baking they are super helpful!  You can get these for as around $10 on amazon (you definitely don’t need a super expensive one) and helps when you want to get a clean coat of icing around a cake!

Inside My Bullet Journal

Hello everyone!  Hope you all are having a great week and are enjoying summer so far!  For this weeks post I thought it would be nice to give you guys a peak into what my bullet journal is like!  I started bullet journaling at the beginning of this school year as a way to keep all my school work organized and fell in love with it!  So, the pages for this post may be a little scattered throughout the year, but they all could work for any time of year!   Hope you find some inspiration from these pages and enjoy!

 

Weekly Spreads-

Although I may have slacked off here and there while bullet journaling, the one thing I ALWAYS did throughout the year was weekly spreads.  I found that it was the best way for me to be organized, and I loved designing a new aesteically pleasing spreads each week!  Here are some examples of some of my favorite spreads this year-

Monthly Goals/Events-

I started doing this in February and absolutely fell in love with it! I found it really nice at the start of each month to take a bit of time and sit down to think about what I wanted to accomplish that month, which really helped me to focus and feel good when I checked things off! Monthly Title Pages-

As I began to bullet journal more and more, I found that I was focusing a lot month by month.  So I found that it was a little extra fun and creativity to create a cute title page for each month to stay more organized!  This one is obviously completely optional and only for decoration but really fun to create!  Here are a couple examples of my monthly title pages-

Calendars-

Last but certainly not least are calendar pages!  As I said before when bullet journaling I focus a lot on monthly objectives.  Although I could just use the calendar on my phone, I found that adding in a calendar that I could write all over, and visually see the month by my weekly spreads was really helpful!  Here are my favorite calendars in my bullet journal-

Summer Plans

Hello Everyone!  It feels like its been so long since I’ve sat down to write a post!  Life got super busy, and I was forced to focus on some other obligations but I’m excited to say that I’m back to weekly blogging for the Summer!  It feels so good to jump back into this community and dive back into the blogging world!

Ways to Rejuvenate your Space for Spring

Hello Everyone Spring has fully Sprung!  As the season unfolds , I’m always in the mood for a refresh, especially in my home.  Spring cleaning is always a necessity for me, I absolutely love to refresh my space for any season!  So for this post I’m going to be talking you guys through my favorite ways I refresh my space for Spring!  I also love to do this quite often, so these options are very affordable!

 

Fresh Flowers/House Plants-

Although I’m not the best gardener, I love the idea of having some nice plants inside the house that are easy to take care of!  Depending on the plant and how you take care of them (I’m not always the best at this) these may not last all Spring, but are totally worth it anyway!  I especially love to get flowers that smell amazing to help bring the Spring Season inside!

 

New Bedding-

New bedding is so nice!  I love buying duvet covers (most comforters will work with a duvet cover, you don’t necessarily need a special duvet insert!)  from Amazon for a cheap and easy refresh for my bedroom!  And even if you don’t want to purchase anything new, washing your sheets and bedclothes is always a lovely way to refresh your bed!

 

Open Windows-

This one seems obvious, but is so nice!  As the Spring weather rolls in, it is super nice to crack the windows open and air out your house (especially if you have pets like me).  It is super lovely to feel the spring breeze on a lovely afternoon and just relax in your cozy space!

 

Closet Clean-out-

I always do this every Spring and Fall.  As winter comes to a close you don’t need many of your bulky sweaters and sweatshirts that may be crowding your closet, so its nice to put those away in storage until fall!  It is also a great time to take a good look through your clothes and decide what you really need, and donate anything you don’t want anymore!

Lighting a Candle-

Whenever I want to feel cozy, I light my candles around my house!  It is super easy, but can make the biggest difference!  My favorite candle for spring is Fresh Cut Lilacs by Bath and Body Works which I mentioned in my February Favorites

 

String Lights-

Anyone who knows me knows how much I love String lights!  They are scattered all over my house wherever I can find a spot for them and are so nice!  I am not always a fan of bright or harsh lighting, so for me turning on some string lights and a lamp is perfect!

 

New Wall Decor-

I love cute sayings and have them all over my room!  Its super easy to find a frame and print off a fun Spring Saying and put in it there!  It is super affordable and easy to switch out for any season!

 

Rearrange Furniture-

This one may also seem obvious, but maybe all your space needs and a little reorganizing!  You don’t need to buy a thing, but can easily change up any space in your home!

 

Do a Deep Clean-

Although this isn’t as fun as lighting a candle or hanging up string lights, it is very important, and a great way to not only make your space feel fresher but also cleaner!

 

Hang up Shelves-

To make a space truly your own, it is super fun to hang up some simple shelves and fill them with pictures, flowers, sayings, or anything else you can find!  I especially love these  from IKEA which are very affordable and great for any room in your house!
